The Structure and Organization of Perón's Government
Perón organized his government to a model similar to many others. At the top there was the president (Perón). Below him there were three branches: Executive, Legislative, and the Judiciary Branch. Each of these branches were in charge of a sub group. The Executive branch consisted of the Vice President and the Ministries of War, Labor, etc. The Legislative Branch was made of of the congress and the Judiciary branch consisted of the Supreme Court of Justice.
Perón's Social Policies to Maintain Power
When Perón came to power it was clear that one of the most important issues that needed to be addressed was the working conditions of many lower class working Argentinans'. Perón pushed for full employment, health care, labor benefits, and wage rises for all working citizens. These policies gave him lots of support from the owed classes which impacted the success of his later presidency. Perón also created education reform so that there would be more skilled workers in the work force. These changes significantly consolidated his power but were not all due to his work. Perón's wife Evita was a very influential character in during Perón's leadership and had a large influence on the social aspects of his presidency.
Propoganda as a way of Impacting or Influencing the Population
Peronist propaganda aimed to show the successes of the regime and reinforce Peronist values among the population. Perón used multiple methods of propaganda to show this. One of the more popular uses of propaganda were the trailers show before movies in theaters. The trailers highlighted achievements of the regime, including the opening of hospitals and schools, mass rallies, the work of the PEP, and much more. The radio also transmitted Perón’s speeches and recounted his official events. Finally Perón used mass rallies to demonstrate support for the regime.
